Understanding PrEP
How to get PrEP?
Getting started on PrEP with SISTR is simple and convenient through telehealth. Here’s how it works:
1. Initial Appointment
Book a telehealth appointment with a SISTR doctor. During this session, we’ll:
-
Complete a sexual health assessment
-
Provide important information about PrEP, STI screening, and other recommended health tests
You’ll then receive a referral for the necessary screening tests.
Once your results are back, we’ll arrange a follow-up telehealth call to review your results and provide PrEP.
2. 1-Month Follow-Up
Depending on your HIV risk, you may need a follow-up one month after starting PrEP to:
-
Repeat an HIV test
-
Check for any side effects
-
Monitor your overall health

3. Ongoing 3-Month Check-Ins
While taking PrEP, you’ll need regular follow-ups every three months to:
-
Complete STI and health monitoring tests
-
Renew PrEP for the next three months
All you have to do is fill in another registration for a PrEP consultation from our website or via our app.
What we test for
Our tests include routine STI testing, so you won't need to request a separate STI consult.
