PCOS TESTING

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a common condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 women.

PCOS is a hormonal condition. Some of the hormones that are affected by PCOS include insulin and androgen (testosterone). Women with PCOS often have high levels of insulin that does not work properly or higher levels of androgen or both. Normally women make small amounts of androgen but in women with PCOS, they make slightly more androgen.

PCOS diagnosis usually involves a combination of blood tests, symptom identification, and an ultrasound test.

Although very few women have the same symptoms, common symptoms include:

  • Irregular or absent menstrual periods

  • Weight gain

  • Acne

  • Excess facial or body hair

  • Thinning scalp hair

  • Mood changes- anxiety and depression

We offer blood referrals which you can take to any Australian authorised pathology centre. Depending on your results, our experienced doctors can provide you with support and guidance on further testing.

Anti-Mullerian Hormone Test

Women are all born with a finite supply of eggs and these decrease in both quality and quantity with age. An AMH (Anti-Mullerian Hormone) test can give you an insight into the remaining quantity of eggs you have, however it cannot tell you about the quality of those eggs.

Women go through many health phases throughout life. Early testing can pick up certain markers that help diagnosis underlying conditions. You don't have to wait until you're sick or unwell before getting tested.

Our general health check test is both preventative and proactive health management testing for common issues for women.

Regular health checks every 1-2 years can help you to ensure you stay healthy. General health checks can help identify early signs of health issues and assess you for risk of future medical conditions such as iron deficiency or diabetes.
